Thank you for your comment Evandro. It’s exactly the reason I write this newsletter every day. There’s so much of wrestling’s territory history that’s been lost, neglected or forgotten. The most important piece is the people who’ll, in many cases, sacrificed their lives and bodies for the sport. I have always felt Bollas is the kind of person who would have never been known in life if not for wrestling: I’m glad he had a family who loved him, as both a son of immigrants and body type, he might have been rejected by society is those time period, yet because of wrestling he was accepted and became a star. When researching the piece I never knew about his Greek promotion or the family thief who robbed him blind: tha k you so much for subbing and reading my work.
Amazing piece. I'd never heard of Bollas before, which is surprising considering his resume. Love this period of wrestling history.
