This week I continued my series on wrestling television announcers with a feature on Harry Thornton from the Gulas-Welch Tennessee Territory.
Harry Thornton was a quintessential larger-than-life figure in mid-20th-century Southern media and professional wrestling. A radio pioneer who became a television innovator, co-promoter, and the unmistakable voice of live wrestling in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Thornton embodied the golden era of local broadcasting.
