We take a trip in the Pro Wrestling Time Tunnel by the decades through a time period in Pro Wrestling History in a region of the world where professional wrestling was being promoted through the early formation of the regional territory in the 1940s to its boom periods in the 60s and 70s through its decline in the 1980s.

Today we will explore Championship Wrestling from Florida by the decades in the Time Tunnel.

1945:

Wednesday, August 29th, 1945

Municipal Auditorium

Tampa, Florida

The Green Shadow & Wally Greb defeated Jimmy Coffield & Scotty Williams by 2 falls to 1

Bill Cazzell defeated Jack Kelly in 35 minutes by 2 falls to 0

As we flashback to the closing days of World War II, the pro wrestling business was starting to pick up some momentum as it had been almost closed down during the war years. Upon close inspection of the newspaper documentation and promotion of the event, promoters had learned how to book returns to cards in towns using controversy. Jimmy Coffield had The Green Shadow on the ropes when he was “accidentally” knocked down by the referee giving the heel Green Shadow the win. Promoters were staking their claim to towns and areas across the country similar to the "land rush" of the early 1800's in the United States' westward expansion and settlement.
