Lancaster, trained by Lou Klein in his gymnasium in Ohio, had his professional match on this day in Pro Wrestling History. Lancaster, who I have the pleasure of calling a friend, was inducted this Summer into the Ohio Sports Hall of Fame.

Houston exploded during the war years, Dallas continued its steady growth, and Amarillo rose from the dead in 1946 with the help of Dory Detton. You’ll hear about the regular cast of Texas characters we’ve come to know, the top four draws in the state during the 1940s, the major impact of Lou Thesz as Texas Champion, his heated rivalry with Nature Boy Buddy Rogers, and the debut of television in Texas and its powerful marriage with pro wrestling.
