*The NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Lou Thesz wrestled his last match for 1965 on December 10th at the Stockyards Coliseum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma defeating Danny Hodge (The NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion). Thesz was off for the remainder of 1965.
**The WWWF World Heavyweight Champion, Bruno Sammartino last wrestled on December 13th at MSG in New York City in a tag team match with Johnny Valentine defeating Bill & Danny Miller in 30:52. His next World Title defense would be on 12/27/65 at the Civic Center in Baltimore, Maryland defeating Big Bill Miller to retain the title.
The “On This Date” (OTD) Cards Analysis Feature is a way for our readers to look back through the Pro Wrestling Time Tunnel to see the way cards were constructed, the finishes, the number of cards that were presented and some idea of how many wrestlers were working in North America during the time period. As we go into next year, it will be interesting to look at the way cards would change in 1966. Next Monday, we will look at the cards OTD in pro wrestling history in 1975.
