One Thing I Learned Today About Pro Wrestling History
Earl Caddock defeated Joe Stecher for one of the World Heavyweight Titles in April of 1917 in Omaha, Nebraska. Caddock abandoned the belt to serve in the US Army during World War I and resumed his wrestling career in the 1920s. Before the discovery of the recent Hackenschmidt wrestling match on film a couple years ago, Caddock was on the oldest known piece of wrestling footage. Earl Caddock was also a successful business executive, serving as President of the United Petroleum Corporation. Caddock died after major surgery following a recent heart attack.
